Legal Bases for Handling Your Personal Data
If You are situated in the EU or the UK, the following provisions apply to You:
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR obligate Us to clarify the legitimate legal foundations We rely upon for processing Your personal information. Consequently, We may base Our processing of Your personal information on the following legal grounds:
- Consent. We may process Your data if You have granted Us permission (i.e., Your agreement) to utilize Your personal information for a defined objective. You have the option to revoke Your consent at any time. Find out more about revoking Your consent.
- Compliance with Law. We may process Your data when We deem it essential to fulfill Our legal responsibilities, such as collaborating with law enforcement bodies or regulatory agencies, asserting or safeguarding Our legal entitlements, or presenting Your information as evidence in legal proceedings in which We are involved.
- Protecting Vital Interests. We may process Your data when We believe it is necessary to safeguard Your essential interests or the crucial interests of another party, for instance, in scenarios involving potential threats to an individual's safety.
From a legal standpoint, We generally act as the "data controller" under European data protection statutes concerning the personal information detailed in this Privacy Notice, as We determine the methods and/or purposes of the data processing We carry out. This Privacy Notice does not cover the personal information We process as a "data processor" on behalf of Our clients. In such instances, the client to whom We provide services and with whom We have a data processing agreement is the "data controller" accountable for Your personal information, and We merely process Your information according to their directives. For more details on Our clients' privacy practices, You should review their privacy policies and address any questions directly to them.
If You are located in Canada, this section is relevant to You:

- If the collection clearly serves an individual's best interests and consent cannot be obtained promptly.

- If We have reasonable grounds to believe an individual has been, is, or may be a victim of financial abuse.
- If it is reasonable to expect that obtaining consent for collection and use would jeopardize the availability or accuracy of the information, and the collection is reasonable for purposes related to investigating a breach of an agreement or a violation of Canadian or provincial laws.
- If disclosure is mandated to comply with a subpoena, warrant, court order, or court rules pertaining to record production.
- If it was created by an individual in the course of their employment, business, or profession, and the collection aligns with the purposes for which the information was created.
- If the collection is exclusively for journalistic, artistic, or literary endeavors.
